Yes, if you are entitled to Medicare and qualified for Medicaid you can have both and they do work together to provide you with your healthcare coverage. Many people that have Medicare and Medicaid decide to enroll into a Dual Special Needs Plan for additional benefits like; Dental, Vision, Hearing, Transportation, Over-The-Counter Allowance, Gym Memberships and Flex cards – just to name a few.

Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover dentures, but some Medicare Advantage Plans include coverage for dentures at no additional charge. Some Medicare beneficiaries decide to get a stand-alone dental plan to help pay for dentures.

As long as you have worked 40 quarters and paid into the Medicare Program, you will automatically be enrolled into Part A. However, Medicare Parts B, C & D are optional, and you can delay enrollment if you have what Medicare considers creditable coverage, like insurance from your Employer. *Be careful* If you do not have what Medicare considers “creditable coverage”, you may be responsible for Medicare late enrollment penalties that can become quite costly.

If you have parts A & B, you can enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan with a Part B Giveback option. Eligibility is determined by the area that you live in. Give Senior Health Desk a call to find out if you’re eligible.

It Depends. If you have a Medicare Supplement AKA “Medigap” - your plan will follow you to your new home. However, Medicare Supplement Premiums can change depending on the area of the country that you live in and you may be able to lower the cost of your Supplement!

Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans DO NOT follow you to your new home. In this case, Medicare will grant you a one-time ‘Special Election Period’ to choose a plan in your new service area. *Be Careful* The Special Election Period due to moving locations does expire so, don’t delay!

Medicare Plans are not ‘One Size Fits All’ and many factors must be considered when finding the best Plan for YOU. Some factors to consider when going over your options with your agent are: Prescribed Medications, Doctors in-network, Income and health – just to name a few.

If you have both Medicare Parts A and B and there is a plan that includes a Flex card in your area, yes! If you'd like to check for Flex Cards in your area, call Senior Health Desk!

If you have a Medicare Supplement – your plan automatically renews on your plan's anniversary date (the date your plan went effective). Just make sure you pay your monthly premiums on time!

If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan – As long as your Advantage Plan is available in your service area for the following year, you will be re-enrolled. No action necessary! *Be Careful* - Annual Notice of Change Letters go out in September and highlight any changes to your Medicare Advantage Plan. You will want to speak to an agent to ensure that any of the changes that may be taking place do not negatively affect how you receive your healthcare benefits
